History Behind Dasara festival:

Dasara festival is also called Vijaya Dashami, which means that the festival is related to victory. On the day of Vijaya Dashami Lord Rama defeated the demon Ravana and got back Goddess Sita and went to his kingdom Ayodhya. Another story behind the Vijaya Dashami festival is that to defeat the demon Mahishasura, the gods combined the power of Lord Bramha, Shiva, and Vishnu to give birth to Shakti. Shakti also known as Goddess Durga fought with the demon Mahishasura and killed him. The day when the demon is killed is celebrated as Vijaya Dashami. In Navaratri, Durga Pooja is performed mainly with great interest. various roopas of Goddess Durga are mainly worshipped in the Navaratri festival.
