The major festivals celebrated in Dwarka are

1. Sri Krishna Janmashtami: Sri Krishna Janmashtami is also called the birthday of Lord Sri Krishna. This festival is celebrated throughout the night as it is said that Sri Krishna was born at midnight. So pooja will be performed to Sri Krishna during the night on the day of Janmashtami.
2. Navaratri and Dussehra: Gujarath is famous for 9 – the days festival of Navaratri. Goddess Durga is worshipped in different ways on these 9 days. People worship Goddess Durga by singing songs and dancing. The 10th day is celebrated as the Dusherra festival. On the day of the Dusherra festival, the effigies of a 10-headed demon, Raavanasura are burnt. This specifies the destruction of evil and the victory of good over bad.
3. Holi: Holi is a festival of colors and people celebrate very happily by throwing colors at each other and also by distributing sweets. On this day people play with colors and distribute sweets to each other.
4. Makar Sankranthi: Makar Sankranthi is usually celebrated in the month of January. During this festival, people worship the Sun god. Sankranthi is also a festival of crops.
