The first day of Diwali celebrations is known as Yamadeepdaan, Yama Deepam, Yam Deep Puja, and Yam Deep Daan in Gujarat and North India. It also goes by the name Dhanteras. All night long, diyas (lamps) are burned in honor of Yam or Yamraj, the god of death. The day of Yam Deep Puja in 2022 is October 22. 2022 Yama Deepam Date and Timings Direction Kannada Calendar

  1. House cleaning is crucial during the Diwali festival. After thoroughly cleaning the entire house, sprinkling Gangajal over the surroundings will help to purify it.
  2. Create a Puja Mandir by setting up a table in your living room or puja room, covering it with a red cotton cloth, and placing grains in the middle of the table.
  3. Then, in the center of the grains, place a Kalasha made of bronze or silver. Add water, betel nuts, mango leaves, marigold flowers, money, and grains to the kalasha. In the Kalasha, arrange mango leaves in a circle.
  4. Place the Ganesha and Lakshmi idols on the right side of the Kalasha. After that, take a small puja thali, create a flat mountain out of rice, draw a lotus flower with turmeric powder, add some coins, and set it in front of the idols.
  5. After that, place books and other materials linked to business and money in front of the idols.
  6. To the gods, Lakshmi, Ganesha, and Kalasha apply the tilak.
  7. After that, present some flowers to the gods and keep a few with you as you pray.
  8. Join your hands, close your eyes, and say the Diwali puja mantra while holding flowers in your palms. After prayer, present flowers to the gods.
  9. Take the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and give them a bath using water, Panchamrit, and water. After cleaning it with a cloth, put it in Kalasha’s back.
  10. Add kumkum and turmeric powder to the statue of the goddess Lakshmi. And place the wreath on the neck of the goddess Lakshmi. Then, in front of the idols, burn Agarbatti and Dhoop.
  11. Then present the goddess with coconut, fruits, sweets, supari, pan leaves, and cash. Place it before idols.
  12. Finally, do Lakshmi Maa Puja Arthi by using one Diya from the Puja Thali, Ghanta.

  • Celebrate Yama Deepam, Dwadashi Dhantrayodashi, and Dhanteras Dhanvantari Trayodashi on On October 22, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. and ends with October 23, 2022 at 6:03 p.m.
