Warangal Thousand Pillar Temple Opening Closing Timings Today and History:

The monarchs of the Kakatiya Dynasty, such as Rudrama Devi, Ganapathi Deva, and Prataparudra, insisted to construct a great number of spectacular temples during this time. It is believed that the Kakatiya king Rudra Deva was responsible for the construction of the thousand-pillar temple somewhere between 1175 and 1324 CE. Warangal Thousand Pillar temple was designed in the Chalukya architectural style. The Vishwakarma Sthapathis of the Kakatiya empire are responsible for the construction of this magnificent temple in the then-capital Warangal.

This well-known temple is referred to as Veyyi Stambala Gudi in the Telugu language, which literally translates to “one thousand pillar temple.” Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Lord Surya Dev have all served as their presiding deities at various times. Warangal Thousand Pillar temple is considered a temple of the Trinity gods known as Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Lord Bramha. But in the Warangal Thousand Pillar temple, Lord Surya Deva will be replaced by Lord Bramha and pooja is performed.

Daily hundreds of people visit the temple and do the darshan of the main deities in the temple. In the Warangal Thousand Pillar Temple there will be three deities and people visiting the temple can do the darshan of three deities. All three temples will open at the same time.

As there were three temples in the same place festivals related to the three deities, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Lord Surya Deva will be performed in a great manner. The main shrine of the temple is supported by 400 of the total 1000 pillars that make up the temple.
