The temple is located 28 kilometers away from Kadapa Town and 16 kilometers away from Siddout fort by way of Bhakarapeta. Vontimitta Temple History:

During the 16th century, the Chola and Vijayanagara rulers oversaw the construction of the temple throughout their respective reigns.

Bammera Potana, a resident of Vontimitta, is credited for penning the Telugu text of his greatest work, Maha Bhagavatham, and committing it to Sri Rama as a dedication. In addition to devoting his time to worshipping Rama during this period, Vavilakolanu Subba Rao, popularly known as “Andhra Valmiki,” is credited for translating Valmiki’s Ramayana into Telugu.

The Ramayana is a Hindu epic that tells the story of Rama. According to legend, the poet and saint Annamacharya paid a visit to the temple, where he is supposed to have authored and performed kirtans, which are praise songs dedicated to Rama. The French explorer Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, who had seen this temple in 1652, had high regard for the sophisticated appearance of the structure’s construction.

There is a Rama Baktha in front of the temple with the name Bhavanasi Mala Obanna. This Rama Baktha is known for singing songs or kirtans in favor of Rama. There is also a sign of Mandapam (Utla Stambam) Bhavanasi Mala Obanna in front of the east Gopuram.

The temple is the biggest in the area and was designed and constructed in the Vijayanagara architectural style. It follows the “Sandhara” order and is contained inside a rectangular yard that is surrounded by walls. The temple is distinguished by its exquisite architecture and can be reached from Siddhout by way of Bakarapeta.

The distance between the two cities is 16 kilometers (9.9 miles). The center tower, which faces east and serves as the entry gateway to the temple, is one of the three majestic Gopurams (towers) that this structure features. The other two towers face north and south, respectively. This center tower is constructed on five levels, and there is a flight of stairs leading up to the tower’s approach gate.
