Srisailam is one of the Jyotirlinga Kshetras in the remaining twelve Jyothirlinga kshetras. Here Lord Shiva is called Mallikarjuna Swamy. On the day of the Maha Shivaratri festival, a special abhishekam is performed to the main deity, in the inner sanctum of the temple. On the day of Maha Shivaratri during Lingodbhavakalam, at midnight Kalyanotsavam will be performed to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi Devi.
