Lord Ranganatha, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu, is the subject of the Ranganthaswamy temple. The temple is located on the Kaveri River banks inside the Srirangapatna Fort. The Lord’s idol is shown inside the temple reclining on the Aadi Sesha, a bed of serpents. The Aadi Sesha is rumored to have seven heads. The deity (god) of this temple is one of the largest images of Lord Vishnu in a reclining (lying back) position, according to the locals. Ranganayaki is the primary goddess of this holy site. The temple’s architecture and carvings are incredibly fascinating.

2023 Vaikuntha Ekadashi Srirangam Temple Pooja Date and Time

Vaikunta Ekadasi, which has two portions called pagal pathu and ira pathu, lasts for 21 days at the Sri Ranganatha temple in Srirangam. The Vaikunta Ekadasi day’s “Sorgavasal Opening,” or Paramapada Vasal, which marks the opening of the entrance of Vaikunta, Srihari Vishnu’s residence, is the most significant festival in Srirangam. Vaikunta Ekadasi falls on January 2 in 2023.

2023 Dates for Vaikunta Ekadasi:

  • On January 2, 2023 in Srirangam Pagalpathu and Irapathu – Jan. 2, 2023
  • Vaikunda Ekadashi Paramapada Vasal
  • January 2, 2023, is Vaikunta Ekadashi (Monday).
  • Early in the morning, Paramapada Vasal and Sorga Vasal Thirappu will be held in Lord Narayana Temples in Srirangam, Thiruvallikeni, Tirupati, and other locations.

Throughout Vaikunta Ekadasi, the Irappathu Festival will be conducted for 22 days at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam. The festival’s key dates are given below.

  • From December 23, 2022, to January 11, 2023, Sri Ranganatha Swamy (Moolavar) will bless devotees at Muthangi Seva (Pearls).
  • 22 Dec, 2022 (Thursday) ThiruNedunthandagam on December 23, 2022 (Friday) Beginning on January 1, 2023 (Sunday), Pagalppathu Utsavam will take place.
  • 2 Jan 2023 (Monday) – Paramapada Vasal (Sorgavasal) Thirappu, early in the morning, 4.45 Namperumal Rathnangi Sevai – First day of Irappathu
  • Sunday, January 8, 2023 – Mohini Alankaram, Thirukaithala Sevai, Nammaazhvar
  • Monday, January 9, 2023 – Namperumal Guthirai (Horse) Vahanam, Thirumangai Mannan Vedupari
  • Thirthavari on January 11, 2023; Nammalvar Motcham early on January 12, 2023, and Iyarppa Satrumarai later that day.
  • From December 3 to December 24, Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam will celebrate vaikunta Ekadasi.
  • The unveiling of the paramapada vaasal in the early hours of December 14 is the centerpiece of the 21-day yearly festival.
  • On December 14, the paramapada vaasal will open at 4.45 a.m. On December 21 and December 24, respectively, the festival’s Thirumangai Mannan Vedupari and Nammazhwar Moksham events will take place.
