Vaikuntha Ekadashi is also referred to as Mukkoti Ekadasi and Swargavathil Ekadasi in Kerala.
Vaishnavites commemorate (celebrate) Vaikunta Ekadasi in a more ornate manner. For Tamil and Telugu speakers, it is more noticeable. The three most significant auspicious practices on this day are fasting, keeping watch at night, and going through the Vaikunta Dwaram.
The opening of the Vaikunta Dwaram or Paramapada Vasal entrance in Vishnu temples is the most significant rite performed that day in temples. Only on Vaikunta Ekadasi day is this door unlocked, and worshippers are welcome to pass through. The door symbolically leads to the Vaikunta, which is Vishnu’s dwelling.

Benefits of Keeping an Ekadasi Fast:
Mukkoti Ekadasi, also known as Vaikunta Ekadasi, is observed with chanting, Japa, and Dhyana, as well as a fast. Dasami marks the beginning of the Vaikunta Ekadasi. A stringent fast, or at least a partial fast for those who are unable to observe a complete fast for different reasons, is observed on Vaikunta Ekadasi after ‘Ekabhuktam’ or consuming food only once on Dashami.
On Dwadasi, which is the twelfth day of the waxing or brilliant fortnight, the fast is broken. During a strict fast or a partial fast, you are permitted to consume water, milk, and fruits. Fasting is intended to calm the senses and detoxify the body. It is believed that the mind in a body that is thus restricted will become pure. A clean body and mind enable one to approach the Paramatman or the Divine.
Benefits – Mukkoti Ekadashi is another name for Vaikuntha Ekadashi. On this day, it is thought that Vaikuntha Dwaram, the portal to the Lord’s inner sanctum, opens, allowing those who fast on Vaikuntha Ekadashi to enter Heaven and find forgiveness.
