Story Behind Kedhara Gowri Vratham:
According to Shiva Purana, Once Saint Brungi Maharshi went to Kailasam and performed pooja only to Lord Shiva and he did not even notice Goddess Parvathi Devi. For that reason, Goddess Parvathi felt very sad and went near Saint Gauthama Maharshi to take his suggestion regarding this matter. Then the Saint advised to perform Kedhara Gouri Vratham and explained its procedure. From that day every year, Kedhara Gowri Vratham will be performed to get health, wealth, and mental peace. It is also said that after performing Kedhara Gowri Vratham, Lord Shiva offered his half body to Goddess Parvathi Devi and it forms Ardha Naareswara Avataram.

Kedara Gowri Vratham 2022 Date And Time
Every year Kedhara Gowri Vratham will be performed on the day of Deepavali Amavasya. In the olden days, this Vratham used to be performed for 21 days, but now Kedhara Gowri Vratham is performed only for one day on the day of Deepavali Amavasya. Date of the pooja is 24 October 2022.
Kedhara Gowri Vratham Procedure:
- On the day of performing Vratham people have to take a head bath.
- At the time of pooja, a kalasam filled with 3/4 of water and closed with betel leaves should be kept ready.
- At the top of the Kalasam, coconut should be placed, and applied Turmeric and Kumkum.
- This whole kalasam should be placed on a plate with rice spread on it.
- At the time of pooja, people have to recite Kedhara Gowri Astottharam.
- During vratham, a thread with 21 knots should be kept near God.
- After completion of Kedhara Gowri Vratham men will tie this holy thread to their right hand and women will tie it to their neck.
- Vratham will complete it after Visarjana Pooja.
