Mumbai Siddhi Vinayak Temple History And Significance
What is the history of Mumbai Siddhi Vinayak Temple?
The history of the temple can be traced back to over two hundred years ago and continues to be practiced up to this day. Late Shree Ramakrishna Jambhekar Maharaj, a devotee of Shree Akkalkot Swami Samarth, acquired the state of Siddhi. He was a fervent follower of the Gayatri Mantra and Lord Ganesha.
One day, he buried statues of the gods in front of the courtyard of one of his disciples. He foretold that in its stead a Mandar tree would sprout, and the elephant deity would make his home inside it. 21 years later, as the tree continued to grow, so did the trust of the people.
The narrative of an Agri lady named Shreemati Deubai Patil is one of the most well-known ones. She was unable to have children due to infertility, but she contributed financially to the building of the temple with the intention of praying to the Lord that other childless women might be blessed with children.

Within the larger compound of the temple, a little Hanuman Temple was dedicated in the year 1952. During the construction of a new road, an idol of Lord Hanuman was discovered during excavation.
Mumbai Siddhi Vinayak Temple History And Significance
The fact that the idol of the god is fashioned out of a single piece of dark stone and that it depicts the Lord with his trunk inclined to the right gives the temple its importance. Because it is so rare for the trunk of a Ganesha statue to be on the right side, this temple is considered to be exceedingly holy.
The idol is made up of four hands called Chaturbhuj, and each hand is decorated with holy relics associated with the elephant deity. While the upper right hand is holding a lotus flower, the upper left arm is wielding an axe, the lower right hand is holding holy beads, and the lower left hand is holding a bowl full of Modaks.
On each side of him stand the goddesses Riddhi and Siddhi, who shower their worshipers with the blessings of wealth and success.
Lord Ganesh is flanked on both sides by the goddesses Riddhi and Siddhi, who are considered to be symbols of holiness, accomplishment, prosperity, and wealth. It is possible to make out the third eye of Lord Shiva located on the brow of the Lord.
