Because of its structure, the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga may be broken up into several pieces. The sacred relic known as the Jyotirlinga may be found at both the Omkareshwar Temple and the Mammaleshwar Temple. The Omkareshwar Temple is responsible for guarding one-half of the Jyotirlinga. Both of these temples need to be visited in order for guests to have a complete view of the Jyotirlinga, also known as darshan. It is believed that the Jyotirlingas are Swayambhu, which means that they came into being according to their own will.
Because of the jyotirlinga, we are unable to touch Abhishek. Only in the wee hours of the morning will they let us pour water on the linga as part of the abhishek ritual, but we are not allowed to touch the linga.

The holy river Narmada is responsible for the formation of Omkareshwar. This river, which is considered to be among the holiest in India, has just become the site of one of the largest dam construction projects in all of India.
The area surrounding the Omkeshwar Shiva linga is continuously refilled with water. In most temples, the Shiva lingam is constructed in the center of the womb, and the peak is directly above it. However, in the Omkareshwar Lingam temple, the Shiva lingam is not located underneath the dome. The fact that the statue of Lord Mahakaleshwar may be found on the highest point of the temple is one of its defining characteristics. There are others who claim that Omkara may be found atop this peak.
