Kashi Annapurna Devi Temple Varanasi Opening Closing Timings Today And History:
Once upon a time, Lord Shiva told the Goddess Parvati that the whole universe is an illusion and that the “Maya” that is in the food is a component of that illusion. The Goddess of food, also known as Mata Parvati, worked herself into a frothing rage and felt the need to demonstrate the significance of all the material. In order to do so, she removed everything from the planet. Everyone suffered from severe hunger since there was no food to harvest from the land, which caused the land to become barren and sterile.
She was compelled to reemerge in this world after seeing the anguish that her worshippers felt as a result of their severe hunger. After that, she established a cooking space in the sacred city of Varanasi. Lord Shiva also came to Her and remarked, “I realize that the material can never be sent away as an illusion,” which indicated that he had come to the same conclusion. Mata Parvati experienced a state of extreme joy, at which point she personally presented Lord Shiva with an offering of food. From that point on, Mata Parvati has been venerated as Annapurna, which literally means the Goddess of Food.
Kashi Annapurna Devi Temple Significance:
Another story pertaining to the Annapurna mountain range is that once upon a time, Maa Parvathi shut all of Lord Shiva’s eyes (there are three eyes: sun, moon, and fire) and the whole world became completely black. There was a situation known as “Pralaya,” and the color of Maa Parvati changed to a more drab hue as well (which means She has lost Her Gauri Rupa).
She was in a great deal of pain and requested Lord Shiva how she may get Gauri Rupa once again. Lord Shiva instructed her to perform the ritual of Anna Dan in Kashi. In Varanasi, Mata Parvati is said to have cooked up some Anna Dan using Her Annapurna Rupa, a golden pot, and a golden ladle. Again She received Her Gauri Rupa. It is said that devotees of Her perform Annapurna Pooja by performing Anna Dan in the city of Kashi.
