What Is Srivilliputhur Andal Temple History?
It is generally agreed that Vishnuchittra, also known as Perialwar, lived around the eighth century AD. Andal was his adopted kid, and he discovered her on the grounds of Sri Vatapatrasai Temple when he was tending Tulasi gardens. Every day, Andal would assist her father, Perialwar, in the process of weaving a flower garland for the purpose of worshiping the Lord.
Perialwar found out one morning that Andal was wearing a garland around her neck that was meant for the Lord while she was enjoying looking at herself in a mirror and praising herself. Perialwar expressed her displeasure and reprimanded herself for her actions. Perialwar had visions in which the Lord came to him and told him that he would one day wear the garland that Godai had worn.
When Andal reached her teenage years, she voiced her desire to wed Krishna. Perialwar had a dream in which Lord Ranganatha asked him to fulfill a request to bring Andal to Sri Rangam for a wedding ceremony. Lord came to the leader of the Sri Rangam Temple in his dreams and told him to send a palanquin that was appropriately decked. For the wedding ceremony, Sri Rangam provided a palanquin that was transported all the way from there. The plans for the magnificent wedding were prepared by King Vallaba Deva, who also participated in the wedding celebration.
Andal made her way inside the holiest part of the temple, the sanctum sanctorum, and worshiped the feet of Sri Ranganatha. She became one with the Lord, much to the shock of the devotees who had come there to see the event.
