Sholingur Anjaneya Swamy temple daily opens in the morning at 6.00 AM and closes at night at 8.00 PM

There are a few traditions that are associated with the temple. According to one of these legends, it is said that the wise man Vishvamitra gained the title of Brahmarishi by gazing at Narasimha at the temple for almost forty-five minutes. According to one further mythology, Indra and the people who helped him create would worship Narasimha while taking a bath in the Pushkarni. Thakkar is the name of the Pushkar that is being used.

It is a widely held belief that the water from the pushkarni has healing capabilities and the potential to treat a wide variety of illnesses. Buddha, son of Chandra, went to this temple and prayed to the Lord there, which resulted in his being relieved of the curse that had been placed on him by the wise Durvasa. It is thought that those who suffer from mental illness may be healed by taking a dip in the pushkarni and offering prayers to the gods who reside on the two hills nearby.

This region was given the name “Kadigai Kottam” by Karikaala Chola while he was in the process of subdividing his kingdom into smaller districts. It was here that a number of rulers who belonged to the Pallava dynasty established a variety of academic institutions and centers for sculpture.

In addition, Lord Hanuman’s hands are wrapped around a Chakra. He is also pictured seated in a yogic pose holding a “Jap Mala,” and also holds a “Jap Sanka.” The idol is depicted offering a sacrifice to Lord Narasimhan in this position. On his crown is the name Rama etched in stone.

The Shivites held authority over the town of Sholinghur while it was still part of their empire.
