Shani Shingnapur Temple is a renowned Shani Deva Temple located in Shingnapur, This refers to a “deity that has self-evolved.” The ‘Swayambhu’ god of Hinduism, who represents the planet Saturn and is the reigning deity of this location, manifested himself as a black stone. The most sacred days of the week are Saturdays, Amavasya, and Shri Shaneshchar Jayanti.
Worshipers say that the Shani Shingnapur temple is a “Jagrut Devasthan,” which translates to “alive temple,” and that the god still remains in the black stone to this day. This belief stems from the fact that the word “Jagrut” means “alive.” Shingnapur’s women are not permitted to touch the deity at Shani, although they are permitted to have darshan.
It is considered that Saturday is a fortunate day for Lord Shani, hence there will be an increase in the number of worshippers on this day. Over the course of more than 400 years, women were not permitted inside the temple.
