Appanacharya is credited for composing the Stotras and compiling a chronicle of the life of Sri Raghavendra Swamy, both of which have garnered a great deal of attention and admiration over the years. As soon as Sri Appanacharya learned of Swamiji’s decision to proceed to Brindavana, he made a beeline for Mantralayam, where he saw that the Tungabhadra was spilling its banks as a consequence of an unexpected thunderstorm. This caused Sri Appanacharya to become concerned about the safety of Brindavana.

As soon as he realized that he would not be able to get over the river, he started singing the Raghavendra Stotra to Swamiji as a prayer for help. It is said that the River Tungabhadra slowed down when it heard the Stotras, allowing him to safely cross it.
