History of Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple.
- As per Sthala Purana, According to the legends of the Treta Yuga, there was a sage named Yadarshi, who was the son of the great sage Sri Rishyasringa Maharshi and Shanta Devi. He performed penance inside the cave under the watchful eye of Sri Anjaneya Swamy.
- Pleased with his devotion, Sri Narasimha Swami appeared before him. Swami manifests himself in five different forms of Sri Jwala Narasimha, Sri Gandabherunda, Sri Yogananda, Sri Ugra, and Sri Lakshminarasimha after Swami’s finely carved forms and is therefore worshiped as Pancharama Narasimha Kshetra.
- According to the Skanda Purana, there is a temple in the cave of Lord Vishnu, where many years ago the invincible Sudarshana Chakra is like a compass to guide the devotees towards this temple. Here the worship and pujas are conducted according to Pancharatra Agama. The pooja procedures are done as suggested by the late Sri Vangipuram Narasimhacharya who served as the Sthanacharya of this famous temple.
- In the 15th century, Sri Krishna Devaraya, the great king of Vijayanagara, mentioned in his autobiography about the temple that before going to war, he always visited the temple and prayed to the Lord for victory. The temple town has all the facilities for pilgrims to stay, but after fulfilling their wishes, many people offer their heads to the Lord.
- The city is well connected to the capital and nearby significant towns by the Ghat road. There are many restaurants for the devotees, special darshan, kalyanam, prasadam, and other facilities that are continued to be made available to the public by the devasthanam board.
