You should first know what “Vaikuntha” (an allusion to Lord Narayana’s residence in Indian mythology) implies. There is simply abundance in Vaikuntha; there is neither scarcity nor lack.

Everyone in Vaikuntha is Lord Narayana Himself, according to the Srimad Bhagavatam, which means that in such a heavenly abode, every soul has attained divinity and appears as Lord Narayana (Vishnu).

In Sanskrit, the word Kunta denotes scarcity. Vaikuntha is a place where there is no dearth or shortage of anything. Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day (Tithi) between the New Moon and Full Moon (Sanskrit: ekda, “Eleven”, “Eka” – one, “dashi” – ten) in the lunar calendar.

Even when there is no shortage, you are permitted to fast on Vaikuntha Ekadashi and continue to be hungry. Poverty occurs when there is a lack and you must go hungry. Vaikuntha Ekadashi is the day when there is no lack of anything and everything is in excess when you are fasting.

Swaran Vaikunta Ekadasi Ratham:

• On January 1st, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be held in conjunction with Vaikuntha Ekadasi.
• the Vaikunta Ekadasi day journey of the Golden Chariot (Swarna Ratham) between 9 and 10 a.m. in the four Mada streets.
• On January 3rd, between the hours of 5 and 6 am, Swami Pushkarini will perform Chakra Snanam on Vaikuntha Dwadsi Day.

• Tickets for SRIVANI Trust and Special Entry Darshan (both priced at Rs. 300) will be made available for online purchase. For Rs. 300 and SRIVANI trust tickets, a constrained online quota would be made available.
• Throughout Vaikunta Dwaram’s opening dates, all special darshan stays canceled.
• During this period, Supadam Darshan for senior citizens, people with disabilities, patients, NRIs, infants, and other groups won’t be available.
