Rameshwaram Temple:
Rameshwaram Temple is one of the most famous temples in India. Rameshwaram temple is one of the famous abodes of Lord Shiva and is located in South India. Rameshwaram temple is located at the Seashore and attracts thousands of pilgrims. Some lakhs of people visit the Rameshwaram temple to seek the blessings of the deity.
In Rameshwaram temple, there will be two Shiva Lingas, one is made by Lord Sri Rama with sand and the other is brought by Lord hanuman from Kailasam. According To Mythology, when Lord Rama reached Rameswaram Lord Rama asked Lord Hanuman to bring a Shiva Linga to perform Pooja rituals. Lord Hanuman Goes to Kailasam to bring the sacred Shiv Linga for Lord Sri Rama. But in this process, Lord Hanuman becomes late by some minutes. As the auspicious moments are passing on Lord Rama himself made Shiva Linga with sand and performed pooja rituals to that deity. After that Lord hanuman reaches with sacred Shiv Linga from Kailasam and feels bad that he is late by some moments. At that moment Lord Rama performs pooja to both the Shiva Lingas and also says to do the darshan of Shiv Linga brought by Lord Hanuman first. This is still done in Rameshwaram Temple. Both the Shiva Lingas receive pooja and pilgrims can see both the Shiv Lingas in the inner Sanctum of Rameshwaram Temple.
