Inside this temple, which has a tall wall surrounding it on all sides, are two shrines with vimanas atop them. The Nagara style is characterized by the use of stepped-diamond forms in the architecture of one of the temples, while the Dravida style defines the design of the other shrine. The primary structure consists of a sanctum with a Vimana (tower) atop it, as well as a mukha mandapa (portico), an ardha mandapa, and a sanctum.
A depiction of the goddess Banashankari, who has been elevated to the status of a deity, may be seen within the main shrine of the temple. A depiction of the goddess seated on a lioness and trampling on a demon beneath her foot is shown in the sculpture, which is constructed of black stone.

As the embodiment of the goddess Parvati, who is the wife of the deity Shiva, Banashankari is regarded as very important.
In addition to these names, the locals also refer to the goddess of the temple as Balavva, Banadavva, Sunkavva, Shiravanthi, Chowdamma, and Vanadurge. Banashankari is considered to be the sixth incarnation of the goddess Durga, who is known for her warrior-like abilities.
