2024 Telangana Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara Dates Timings
During the Jatara festival, many tribal devotees come from all over India, namely from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, as well as sections of the state of Jharkhand.
Followers have faith that the goddesses Sammakka and Sarakka will grant them everything they want for using their divine and miraculous abilities. Infertile couples go there to beseech the goddesses to bestow upon them the gift of offspring, while young women offer prayers to be blessed with loving husbands.
Devotees fulfill the commitments they made to the goddess during the Jatra by presenting her with gifts such as jaggery, oxen, coconuts, and monetary contributions, amongst other things. To cleanse their bodies and get forgiveness for their sins, pilgrims bathe in the Jampanna stream.

2024 Telangana Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara Dates Timings
The schedule for the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Mahajatara in 2024 has been completed and the dates have been set. In the month of February, there will be a celebration of the Mahajatara that will last for four days. The monks of the temple have revealed the dates that the Medaram Mahajatara will take place in the year 2024. The Medaram Jatara will take place from the 21st to the 24th of February.
- On the first day of the festival, February 21, the idol of Sarakka is transported from Kannepalli to Medaram. The idol of Pagididda Raju is transported all the way from Poonugondla to Medaram.
- On Day 2, February 22, Sammakka’s idol and the Kumkum coffin are taken to Medaram (typically around midnight) after extended pujas performed by the Koya tribes on Chilakalagutta, the hill where the Kumkum casket is housed. Chilakalagutta is also known as “the hill where the Kumkum casket is kept.” The statue of Govinda Raju is transported all the way from Kondai to Medaram.
- On Day 3 Worship of Sammakka and Saralamma, together with their respective consorts Pagididda Raju and Govinda Raju, takes place on (February 23).
- On day 4 the conclusion of The Jatara takes place on February 24, with the “Tallula Vanapravesham” (entrance into the forest). The urn with the Kumkum is brought all the way back to Chilakalagutta, where it is stored until the next Jatara.
