In 1536 AD, Tallapaka Tirumala Ayyangar had this thought of the marriage of Lord Venkateswara with his two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi and introduced it as a festival of five days. Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy, the deity of Lord Venkateswara along with his two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi are brought outside of the main temple to the Tirumamani Mandapam to perform the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony commences with Panchamurthi puja followed by reciting Vedic Mantras. The Lord and his brides sit opposite each other with a curtain in between them. The bridegroom and brides can get to see each other after performing certain homas at an auspicious moment. Later, Mangalsutra Dharana and Talambralu are performed. A priest is responsible for conducting the marriage and another priest performs all the marriage rituals on behalf of the bridegroom. The entire Ceremony lasts for an hour.

The Kalyanotsavam Seva is performed every day except on special occasions like Srivari Bramhotsavam, pushpayagam, Paritrotsavam, and on the days of solar and lunar eclipses. Every day 20 tickets are kept aside for Newly Married Couples. It is completely on a first come first serve basis. Newly Married couples who want to take part in this Seva must visit Vijaya Bank Counter at Tirumala and can take advantage of this Seva within a week after their Marriage.
Tirumala Kalyanotsavam Timings:
Kalyanotsavam is performed from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. All the Pilgrims must arrive one hour before the Seva at Supadham. Traditional Dressing norms must be followed by all pilgrims. Women can go in a saree or Punjabi dress with a dupatta. During the Seva, Men must remove their shirts or vest which they can wear again after the seva.
Tirumala Kalyanotsavam Tickets :
The ticket price for Kalyanotsavam is Rs.1000. Two people are allowed per ticket. Pilgrims below 12 years of age are allowed free of cost for Seva and darshan per one ticket of Kalyanotsavam.

Pilgrims can avail of tickets for Kalyanotsavam Seva through online booking 90 days in advance. All the important documents such as a hard copy of the ticket and Original Photo ID proof must be carried out before entering the temple premises. After performing Kalyanotsavam inside the temple premises, Devotees will be merged into the general queue near Dwajasthambam after which the darshan can be finished within 15 minutes. Pilgrims will receive 1 Big Laddu, 2 small laddus, and Vatsra Bahumanam as Prasadam.
