2023 Tirupati Gangamma Jatara Dates Vesham List And History

Sri Tataiahgunta Gangamma is Grama Devatha of Tirupati city. When Palegondulu reigned over Tirupati and the neighboring districts in the past, there was a significant amount of sexual assault and harassment committed against women. They would rape and harass every lady they could find.

During this ancient period, in the town of Avilala, the goddess Gangamma was born, and as she grew up, she developed into one of the most beautiful ladies. When the Palegondulu attempted to do damage to the Goddess Gangamma, she used her grace and strength to attempt to eliminate him. Palegondulu ran away to an isolated location out of dread of her.

Gangamma devised a strategy called “Ganga Jathara” with the intention of coercing him out of hiding. During this ritual, residents of Tirupathi perform vVchitra Veshadarana and curse Gangamma for a period of seven days. The Palegondulu emerges from concealment on the seventh day and is put to death by Goddess Gangamma in preparation for the LokaKalyanam.

Tirupati is home to a well-known and much-celebrated annual celebration known as the Gangamma Jatara. May is always the month in which it occurs. It is well known as the “Tataiahgunta Gangamma Temple” due to the fact that the Gangamma temple used to be situated on the banks of the Thathaya Gunta.

In front of the temple, priests carried out the necessary initiatory ceremonies and attached the “Vadibalu” to the “Viswaroopa Sthambam” in order to prepare for the celebration. The devotees then jostle each other in an effort to get the clay smithereens, which they regard as holy and intend to either store in the area designated as the “Puja” or eat by dissolving it in water. In spite of the fact that there is a prohibition on the sacrifice of animals, goats, and birds were killed arbitrarily in one of the temple’s chambers.
